Electric Pump in the Well

I didn’t take many pictures, this was definitely a 2 person job. The process boils down to pulling the 1″ pipe I had going 100′ down the well, attaching a submersible pump to it, and running safety line and electric wire along it all the way back out the casing. I should have removed the hand pump instead of squeezing everything by it, it was extremely painful to work around. Live and learn.

This was preceded by much planing and testing. We now have 2 pumps connected, 1 submersible at the bottom of the well pushing water up, and 1 in the house pulling water. I’ll route around the house pump as only the well pump suffices, but I’ll keep it in place and easy to route back to as a backup in case something happens to the submersible pump. It’s not as good as it loses prime after too many gallons, but it’s much better than nothing :).
